It is important to build a legacy that lives beyond the current day leaders and preserving history does that well and ignites pride in those connected to such rich history.
OUR CAUSE
We aim to bring community lovers together; restoring one community at a time, through neighbourly love and support, rebuilding projects, empowerment opportunities, and access to skills training.
My Community is a non-political, non profit organization comprised of
community lovers with a genuine interest in improving the cleanliness, safety and economic well-being of their community; creating the change they want to see in their own community, for generations to come.
Despite reports of economic stability, some community members cannot
support their basic way of living without help. Many are forced to leave the island in search of survival. The economic challenges no doubt also contributes to the household provider’s lack of interest toward the up keeping of public spaces, which continues to deteriorate the social fabric of our community. Without a shared sense of responsibility, education and overall awareness, clean up initiatives will continue to prove unsustainable over the long term.
We know how to combat hard problems, and here is our plan.
We see a dire need to focus on an entrepreneurial strategy for the empowerment of these community members. With a mental shift from survival to empowerment there will be a sense of responsibility to the community because there will be an acknowledgment of how our collective efforts created the shift or change for the beneficiaries’ families.
