You may be too busy to give of your time. Other alternatives to consider are giving of monetary donation, clothing, education, food, gifts, vacation, hair cut/style, words of inspiration and encouragement, just to name a few are all beneficial to the receiver.

I want to draw your attention to you as the giver, and the benefits of giving.

When you give to charity, you create opportunities to develop a new relationship with people who believe in the same causes that you do.

Proverbs 11:24-25 says, ” A generous man will prosper.”  Another passage in 2 Corinthians 9:6 says, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

Good for your health. According to a University of California Berkeley study, if you are 55 or older and give of your time as a volunteer, you lessen your chances of dying over a five-year period. Those who give social support to others do better when recovering from coronary-related events.

Promotes cooperation and social connection. When you give, you’re more likely to get back: Several studies, including work by sociologists Brent Simpson and Robb Willer, have suggested that when you give to others, your generosity is likely to be rewarded by others down the line sometimes by the person you gave to, sometimes by someone else.

Encourages others to give. When your family or friends see you donating money, they are much more likely to adopt a giving mindset.

You can make a donation directly to My Community,  which helps its efforts to improve the lives of those in need.
