Grand Bahama has suffered significant hardship following multiple hurricanes and now the Covid19 pandemic. Our last initiative was a partnership with the Eight Mile Rock High School Class of 98, where gifts were given to children of classmates who passed away and monetary donations also given to caregivers with multiple children to support. Some of the children suffered the loss of one or both parents.
The remaining gifts that were donated by My Community and private donors like Ravanno Ferguson Board Member of Beacon for Change Foundation were given to other children between the ages of 2 to 12 throughout the West Grand Bahama community. We hope that the 112 gifts given to 53% of female children and 47% of male children helped to make the holiday season much brighter for all the recipients.
Once our foundation recognized that the toys were for a worthy cause we had no problem donating. We wanted to ensure that everyone’s child has a Merry Christmas,” said Mr. Ferguson.
The gift distribution was held on Friday, December 24th, 2021 and lasted for 8 hours. “We are exceptionally grateful to Mr. Ravanno Ferguson and the Beacon for Change Foundation, the Eight Mile High School class of 98 and other private citizens for their generosity and support that made this project a success.
